About Sam

Sam Grudge is a Belgo-American painter whose work turns one simple symbol — the heart — into a language of love, care, and respect.

His canvases are bold, vivid, and unapologetically joyful: oversized hearts, saturated color, and a feeling that the world can be gentler than it often is. The work is not about mourning or introspection. It is a mirror for the world he wants to see — one where love is loud and kindness is contagious.

The heart

The heart, and where it comes from

Sam's mother filled her home with hearts. She was, above everything, about love — she taught forgiveness, kindness, and the beauty of life's simplest pleasures. When Sam began to paint, the heart came to him naturally, but it was unmistakably hers: a motif inherited from the woman who made love visible in every room.

That is why the heart is everywhere in his work. To Sam, nothing else says I see you, I feel you quite as instantly. It is not romanticism. It is connection. Hope. Humanity.

“I want to paint the world over with hearts.”

A lifetime of creation

Before the studio, there was the lab and the drawing board. Sam spent more than three decades at the forefront of technology — a creative engineer, digital product visionary, inventor, and executive. From digital music systems to high-traffic commercial platforms, his work reached millions.

Along the way he collaborated with some of the world's most demanding creative organizations — including LEGO, Disney, and Blizzard — work that sharpened his instinct for storytelling, emotional connection, and visual language. Painting did not replace that life. It distilled it.

Influences from the road

Three decades of work took Sam across the world, and every place left its color. The energy and humanity of Japan, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The quiet cultural richness of Scandinavia. The warmth of Spain, France, and Germany. And America, where his heart belongs. Each journey added color, texture, and rhythm to his lens.

Sam works in a pop-art language that is instantly recognizable: bold color, and hearts — big ones, everywhere. The heart is a universal symbol that crosses culture, background, and belief.

He first signed his paintings as Fabe, a nod to the child within — the purest version of himself. Today he signs as Sam Grudge, the evolution of an artistic identity built across a lifetime of making things.
