Every artist has a first painting. This is mine. I was standing in the park in Tervuren, Belgium — that vast, breathing space wrapped in trees — and something in me said: pick up a brush. What came out was raw and immediate, the kind of mark-making that doesn't yet know its own rules. The green rushes forward like the ground itself is alive under your feet. The trees line up on either side, stripped and earthy, holding the sky in place. There's a path cutting through — or maybe it's just where the light decides to rest. I wasn't thinking about technique. I was thinking about how big it all felt, and how small I was in it, in the best possible way. This is where it all began.
