Ipé wood on a cast iron frame
90 x 300 x 80 cm
Current location: In private collection
This one is called Momo & Fafa's Bench — and yes, those are real people, real names, and this bench now lives in their garden. There's something quietly profound about making a place for two people to sit together. Cast iron legs with those old-school ornamental scrolls, hardwood slats worn warm by the light — I didn't build this from scratch, but I restored it, fitted it, made it right. Wood always has the last word. You can sand it, stain it, coax it — but it decides how it wants to look in the end. That's the deal you make when you work with something that was once alive. I hope Momo and Fafa sit on it for years, watch the seasons turn, and feel at home in that small green corner of the world.
