There is something about painting a heart against the dark that feels like an act of defiance — a quiet but firm refusal to let the night have the last word. Midnight Light is my nod to the clair-obscur tradition, with a little of Magritte's quiet strangeness in the air. The background moves from near-black at the top down through the deepest navy into an almost electric blue at the base, like a sky caught between dusk and the first hint of something hopeful. Against all of that, the heart sits bold and unapologetic — red, warm, fully alive. No shadow can contain it. I wanted this piece to feel like that moment when you realize the dark around you only makes the light inside you more visible. That's the statement. That's always the statement.
