This one comes straight from the heart — no filter, no distance. Liloo was our cocker spaniel, golden and untameable, the kind of dog who'd disappear into the fields and come back looking like she'd lived a whole life while you weren't watching. A country girl through and through. I painted her mid-stride, tongue out, leash trailing — because that's exactly who she was: always moving, always a little ahead of you. The flat, graphic shapes of blue and grey around her feel almost like memory itself — simplified, slightly dreamlike, the world fading back so she can stay front and center. She still is, every day. This painting is my way of keeping her close.
