There's something deeply satisfying about placing a piece you made by hand into the rhythm of daily life — and this cutting board lives exactly there, right next to the flame. I milled maple and walnut into alternating strips, letting the contrast between the pale warmth of the maple and the deep, earthy walnut do the talking. No ornamentation needed. The wood already had opinions about how it wanted to come together, and I mostly just listened. It sits on that countertop like it belongs there — because it does. Made to be used, marked by time, loved a little more with every meal.
