This one's for Margot. She throws the word around constantly — *andouille* — that gloriously absurd French insult that somehow lands softer than any term of endearment. It means sausage. It means fool. It means I see you and I'm laughing with you. So here he is: the little wolf-hearted andouille, drawn in gold on white, growing right out of the top of a heart like he belongs there — because he does. Jagged teeth, pointed ears, completely ridiculous, completely loved. That's the thing about the people who call each other silly names — there's a whole universe of warmth inside the joke. Painted in gold pen on canvas, minimal and luminous, just the two of us having a laugh across the holiday season.
